DESCRIPTION:Twenty-eighth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific\, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA 28)Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nItem 6 of the agenda is on Sustainable wildlife management\n\n\n\n\nIn its decision 16/15\, the Conference of the Parties recognized that the sustainable use and management of wild species contributed to the achievement of relevant goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and to the Sustainable Development Goals.In the same decision\, the Conference of the Parties requested the Executive Secretary\, subject to the availability of resources\, in collaboration with the Collaborative Partnership on Sustainable Wildlife Management\, in particular the Secretariat of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals and the Secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora\, and with inputs from Parties\, other Governments\, indigenous peoples and local communities\, and women\, youth and relevant organizations\, to prepare draft global guidance on the sustainable management of wildlife applicable to multiple species and multiple practices\, with a focus on: (a) inclusive and participatory decision-making; (b) the inclusion of multiple systems of knowledge and the recognition of rights; and (c) the equitable distribution of  costs and benefits.Also in the same decision\, the Conference of the Parties requested the Executive Secretary to compile and synthesize information on best practices for sustainable wildlife management submitted by Parties\, other Governments\, subnational governments at all levels\, indigenous people and local communities\, women and relevant organizations\, for consideration by the Subsidiary Body.The Subsidiary Body will have before it a note by the Secretariat containing the synthesis of best practices for sustainable wildlife management and an executive summary of the draft global guidance for the sustainable management of wildlife.9 The draft global guidance itself will beprovided in an information document.The Subsidiary Body will be invited to consider the information contained in the note by the Secretariat and to prepare a recommendation for consideration by the Conference of the Parties at its seventeenth meeting. \n\n\n\n\nCBD/SBSTTA/28/5/Rev.1 Sustainable wildlife mangement \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe Subsidiary Body will have before it a note by the Secretariat containing the synthesis ofbest practices for sustainable wildlife management and an executive summary of the draft globalguidance for the sustainable management of wildlife.9 The draft global guidance itself will beprovided in an information document. \n\n\n\nCBD/SBSTTA/28/5/Rev.1  \n\n\n\nSustainable wildlife management
